I collected my second TMA back on the 1st April and surprisingly, I scored 77% This TMA was a mammoth one and worth double of the other two assignments. I know I have been doing nothing but moaning about this module, and my moans are well justified, on the module forum there are so many complaints from students with regards to our the module is being run and noting the amount of mistakes and errors in the module materials.

Today is the 3rd May so it has taken me along time to get round to writing this post. I have just finished and submitted TMA 03, this involved some group work, I was in a team of six but only three of us were doing the work and were communicating and we managed to get the work done.

I could go on forever about the shambles that this module is, my tutor is very nice and she has helped me and given me great feedback on both of my TMA’s so far. I am rather hestitant about how well I will do in TMA 03 as I did not really understand a great deal of the subject, I will just have to wait and see.

One of the questions on TMA 3 namely question 5 wanted us to write a solution to two made up scenario’s. It also stated that can write no more than 300 words, so me and I think every other student assumed that this would be 150 words per scenario. It turned out that it was 300 words for each scenario, alot of the students including me were not happy that they decided to spring this on us 6 days before the cut off date and so there was a bit of an uproar. I was really angry and made my feelings felt with a post of the forum and then it was deleted and I had one of the mod’s send me an email stating that I was agreesive and that I need to adhear to the code of conducts when communicting online! WTF? we ahve paid over £1500 for this module and nothing has really gone right since the module started. Anyway the moderater decided to lock the forum post but he did that before having to get the last word in, he also suggested that it is now starting to bnecome harrasment!.

I, along with a lot of other students have written a formal complaint to the SST about the state of this module. I just hope they sort out all the problems that this module has had for future students.

Although I am not particulary interested in project management or ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) This module does have the makings to be enjoyable and engaging, but instead (and I think I can speak for most of my fellow students here) that this module has been one hard slog, with problem after problem.  The block I have enjoyed the most is SQL I find it much better where I can have practical expereience, just reading block text after block text and taking notes is my idea of hell. I learn better if I can actually get my hands dirty.

I have decided not to make any further comments on the module forums as it just gets my back up when we get ignored (if it is a complant). I just feel that as a good will gesture, the OU should give us a partial refund of the fees. Failing that, they should cancell the exam and just pass us all! lol
